Martin Savelsbergh is an Adjunct Professor in the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech, where he contributes expertise in optimization, logistics, and supply chain management. He previously served as Professor of Applied Mathematics and Director of the Centre for Optimal Planning and Operations at the University of Newcastle, Australia, and led the Business and Services Analytics program at CSIRO.
His research focuses on developing innovative mathematical models and algorithms to solve large-scale optimization problems in transportation, logistics, and supply chain systems. Key areas include vehicle routing, service network design, production planning, dynamic load planning, and cost-to-serve analysis. He is currently advancing research in last-mile delivery, dynamic ride-sharing, multi-objective optimization, and time-expanded network management.
Martin has published over 150 papers in top-tier journals and is Editor-in-Chief of Transportation Science, the flagship journal of INFORMS in transportation and logistics. He has served as Area Editor for Operations Research Letters and Associate Editor for Mathematics of Operations Research, Operations Research, Naval Logistics Research, and Networks.

He has supervised more than 25 Ph.D. students and has led numerous industry-sponsored research projects with companies such as Saia, Praxair, and Rubber Network. His work bridges theoretical advancements with practical applications in logistics and supply chain technologies. He was also a founding partner of Axioma, Inc., a company providing advanced software solutions for the financial sector.
Martin Savelsbergh leads and contributes to major research initiatives in logistics analytics and optimization, including industry collaborations through The Supply Chain & Logistics Institute at Georgia Tech. His ongoing projects focus on dynamic and real-time decision-making systems in transportation networks.
