Professor Martin Peper is a University Professor and Head of the Experimental and Applied Neuropsychology research group at the Department of General and Biological Psychology, Faculty of Psychology, Philipps University of Marburg. He has been a Full Professor of Neuropsychology at the University of Marburg since 2007.
His educational background includes a Dipl.-Psych. (M.Sc. equivalent) from the University of Heidelberg (1987), a Dr. phil. in Psychology from the University of Heidelberg (1991), a Habilitation (Venia legendi for Psychology) from the University of Freiburg (1997), and a Dr. rer. medic. from Charité, Medical Faculty of the Humboldt University of Berlin (2004).
Professor Peper's research focuses on neuropsychology, particularly emotional perception and learning, cognitive neuroscience, and the neurological effects of environmental toxins. His recent work has examined the neuropsychological consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, executive function, motivation to exert cognitive effort, and action control mechanisms.
His publications over the last few years have centered on the neuropsychological impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, including cognitive disorders associated with COVID-19, rehabilitation approaches for affected patients, and how pandemic exposure affects cognitive effort and decision-making processes. His research integrates clinical neuropsychology with cognitive neuroscience approaches.
