Martin Lohse is a Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Würzburg (since 1993) and Managing Director of ISAR Bioscience. He holds an honorary professorship in Biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin. His academic journey includes studies in medicine and philosophy at the Universities of Göttingen, London, and Paris, with research stints at Bonn, Heidelberg, Durham (USA), and the Munich Gene Center.
Research Focus: His work centers on drug discovery, particularly targeting receptors for novel therapies against cardiovascular and nervous system disorders. He is a co-founder of biotech firms ProCorde, CorImmun, and AdvanceCOR, translating research into clinical applications.
Achievements: Recipient of the Leibniz Prize (Germany’s highest scientific honor), member of numerous academies, and former Vice President (2009–2019) and current President (since 2019) of the German National Academy of Sciences (GDNÄ). Led the Max Delbrück Center in Berlin (2016–2019).
Labs/Teams: Active in ISAR Bioscience and collaborates with academic institutions across Europe and the US.
