Martin Lauss is an Associate Researcher and Melanoma Genomics Researcher at the Lund University Cancer Centre (LUCC) at Lund University. As a bioinformatician in the Melanoma Genomics Group, he specializes in cancer genomics and biomedical statistics with particular expertise in gene expression analysis, copy number analysis, DNA methylation arrays, and next generation sequencing.
His research focuses on understanding melanoma through genomic analysis, demonstrating that melanoma tumors can be grouped based on similarities in gene expression levels of the MITF gene, as well as proliferation, immune, and stroma genes. These molecular subtypes represent fundamental biological entities of melanoma with differing patient outcomes, and Dr. Lauss hypothesizes that therapy response and resistance are also determined by these groups.
