Martin J. Pasqualetti

Dr. Martin J. Pasqualetti is a Professor in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University (ASU), with affiliations to the Water Institute and Global Drylands Center. He is a Senior Global Futures Scientist and serves as ASU's liaison to the International Renewable Energy Agency (Abu Dhabi). His research focuses on energy landscapes, renewable energy transitions, and energy policy, with emphasis on the social and environmental dimensions of energy systems.

He has advised U.S. federal agencies, including the Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and contributed to international energy initiatives.

Publications: Over 100 articles and books on energy geographies, including Recycling Energy Landscapes and The Thread of Energy. Recent work addresses circular economies for energy systems and global energy transitions.

Awards: Alexander and Ilse Melamid Medal (2015), Distinguished Alumnus (2018), and Fellow of the American Association of Geographers (2019). He has served on over 10 editorial boards, including Energy Research & Social Science.

Grants/Service: Led NSF-funded projects on solar energy education and energy ethics. Served on Arizona’s Solar Energy Advisory Council and co-founded the Arizona Solar Center. Active in international energy policy dialogues and public outreach.
