Martin Houde

Martin Houde is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Star Formation at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Western Ontario. He also holds a Visiting Professor position at the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo.

His research focuses on:

• Magnetic field strengths in molecular clouds
• Magnetized turbulence in molecular clouds
• Polarization of molecular spectral lines
• Astronomical instrumentation development

Key scientific achievements include:

• Refinement of ambipolar diffusion models for magnetic field analysis
• Development of a Four-Stokes-Parameter Spectral Line Polarimeter (FSPPol)
• Discovery of non-Zeeman circular polarization through anisotropic resonant scattering
