Martin A Nesvig

Martin A Nesvig is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Miami's College of Arts and Sciences. He serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies and Co-Faculty Lead for Mexico and Mesoamerica in the UMIA initiative.

• Research Focus: Religious hybridism in colonial Mexico, sociology of religion in frontier regions, and cultural exchange between Spanish settlers and Indigenous populations.
• Awards: Recipient of the 2010 Charles A. Ryskamp Research Fellowship for his work on frontier religion in colonial Michoacán.
• Publications: His 2012 chapter in A Linking of Heaven and Earth explores peyote-related religious syncretism in Mexico.
