Martha Curtin

Martha Curtin is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Norwich University, where she has worked since July 2022. She also contributes to course development and instruction in the Master’s of Public Health program.

Dr. Curtin integrates her expertise in genetics with a commitment to addressing health inequities through Precision Health research. Her work focuses on bridging gaps in precision medicine access for underserved populations, particularly in oncology nursing and community health contexts.

Recent publications analyze the evolution of precision medicine concepts and their application to nursing practice, emphasizing disparities in care for rural cancer patients and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) populations. Her research highlights the role of nurses in fostering self-advocacy and cultural competency in genomic healthcare.

Dr. Curtin’s clinical background spans medical surgical nursing, college health center community practice, and prior experience as a genetic counselor in pediatric, prenatal, and cancer genetics clinics. She specializes in providing patient education and emotional support in genetic testing scenarios.
