Marta Stepnowska

Dr. Marta Stepnowska is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Fundamentals of Civil Law and Private International Law (First Department of Civil Law) at the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of the Catholic University of Lublin. She has been employed in this position since October 1, 2015, after serving as an assistant professor at the Department of Private Law at the same faculty since February 14, 2009.

Her educational background includes:

• Law studies at the Faculty of Law, Canon Law, and Administration of the Catholic University of Lublin (1998-2003)
• Two-semester course at the School of German Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (2003)
• Internship at the Europa-Institut der Universität Saarlandes (2003)
• Doctoral studies at the Catholic University of Lublin (2003-2008)

Dr. Stepnowska's primary research interests focus on property law and cooperative law, with particular attention to cooperative liquidation and other methods of terminating the legal existence of cooperatives. Her work spans various legal domains including civil law, housing cooperatives, agency agreements, and family law. She has made significant contributions to understanding the legal frameworks governing cooperatives, property rights, and the implications of legislative changes on civil law.

Her publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on cooperative law, with numerous articles addressing liquidation processes, asset distribution, and governance structures of cooperatives. She has also contributed to broader legal discussions on civil code reforms, housing law, and the intersection of criminal convictions with professional rights in military contexts.

Her notable scientific awards include:

• First place in the 5th Edition of the Competition for the best scientific research work in cooperative law (2009)
• Individual Rector's Award of the Catholic University of Lublin for outstanding doctoral dissertation (2009)
• Rector's Award for running Academic Legal Advice Bureaus (2011)

Dr. Stepnowska has been actively involved in academic advising and legal practice. She coordinated the Academic Legal Advice Bureau of the Faculty of Law and Administration (2009-2015) and served as Faculty Coordinator for multiple editions of the Lublin Science Festival. She has also participated in establishing the Legal Advice Point of the Academia Iuris Foundation in Lublin.

Her academic service includes organizing and participating in numerous national and international conferences, with a focus on civil law, cooperative law, and family law topics. She has served as editor for several academic publications including 'Justice in the Armed Forces' (2014) and 'Legal Security' (2013).
