Marta Klimasara

Professor Marta Klimasara serves as Professor of Percussion at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts since 2004, maintaining an active dual career as both educator and internationally celebrated performer. Renowned for her exceptional versatility across percussion instruments—from intimate marimba works to complex orchestral repertoire—she has performed with major ensembles including the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw National Philharmonic, and Munich Chamber Orchestra.

Her educational journey began with piano training in Sosnowiec, Poland, followed by drum studies at age twelve. She studied under Krzysztof Jaguszewski in Katowice (winning national prizes and debuting with the Silesian Philharmonic) before moving to Germany in 1994 to study with Klaus Treßelt at the Stuttgart State University of Music and Performing Arts.

Professor Klimasara's artistic focus centers on Music Performance with specialization in Percussion and Marimba within Classical and Contemporary Music. She is particularly noted for merging technical virtuosity with profound musical sensitivity across diverse percussion setups.

Her distinguished awards include:

• First prize and audience prize at ARD Competition in Munich (2001)
• First prize at World Marimba Competition in Japan (1999)
• Second prize at Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition in Krakow
• Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe scholarship

Supported by prestigious scholarships during her studies, Professor Klimasara maintains an extensive performance schedule across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Her solo debut CD 'I Ching' (2002) showcases her marimba artistry, and she regularly produces broadcasts for major European radio networks including Bayerischer Rundfunk and France Musique.
