Marsha Piacun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social, Behavioral, and Population Sciences at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Tulane University. She serves as the Dietetic Internship Director, where she leads the development and administration of a comprehensive training program for future dietitians.
Her research and professional interests focus on public health nutrition, dietetic education, and community-based nutrition services. With extensive experience in clinical and public health settings, she has contributed significantly to preceptor training and nutrition program development across diverse institutions including hospitals, nursing homes, dialysis units, and community programs.
Marsha played a key role in revitalizing the Tulane Dietetic Internship post-Hurricane Katrina, expanding rotation sites and redefining the program's scope to reflect the broad practice areas of modern dietetics.
Her work emphasizes experiential learning and workforce development in nutrition. She teaches GCHB 7950: Dietetic Internship Part 1 and mentors future public health professionals through her leadership and preceptorship roles.
