About
Marom Bikson is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at The City College of New York (CCNY), part of the CUNY system. He is affiliated with the Center for Discovery and Innovation and serves as co-director of Neural Engineering at CCNY and the New York Center for Biomedical Engineering. His research focuses on electrical stimulation's effects on the human body, with applications in medical device development, neurological disorder treatments, and electrical safety guidelines. He holds a PhD from Case Western Reserve University (2000) and a B.S. from Johns Hopkins University (1995).
Research interests include medical device innovation (e.g., biosensors, electrotherapy), electrical safety protocols, spinal cord and transcranial stimulation, and treatments for epilepsy and depression. His work combines engineering, experimental biology, and clinical evaluation, supported by grants from NIH, DoD, and industry partnerships. Prof. Bikson is a co-founder of Soterix Medical Inc. and Safe Toddles, and actively involved in biomedical education and industry consultations.
Publications highlight advances in computational modeling of brain stimulation, neuromodulation therapies, and clinical trials for neurological conditions. His articles emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to understanding neural networks and translating findings into clinical tools. Prof. Bikson collaborates globally, with contributions to conferences like the NYC-Neuromodulation event and the Neuromodec tDCS Workshop. Grants and industry partnerships underscore his bridging of academic research with real-world health solutions.
