Marni Stuart

Marni Stuart is a Lecturer in Design at the University of the Sunshine Coast's School of Business and Creative Industries. Her practice-led research explores connections between place, creative process, and ecological awareness through surface pattern design and walking methodologies.

Research focuses on:

• Response to place through artistic practice
• Design as research methodology
• Walking as creative inquiry
• Indigenous flora representation in textile design

Her creative works, exhibited nationally, employ endemic florals to foster ecological consciousness. Publications demonstrate consistent themes of place-based storytelling, material representation of nature, and pedagogical innovation in creative arts.

Awards recognize excellence in teaching innovation and academic performance. She mentors students in developing place-connected creative practices and maintains active exhibitions.

Current PhD research at RMIT investigates observation methodologies in site-responsive practice.
