Marlo Starr is an Assistant Professor of English at the College of Wooster. She holds a BA in English from Rutgers University–Newark (2008), a PhD in English from Emory University (2018), and an MFA in Poetry from The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University (2020). Her interdisciplinary research bridges creative writing and critical theory.
Professor Starr's research explores creative writing (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction), global/postcolonial studies, settler colonial theory, ecocriticism, gender/sexuality, and militarism/nuclearism. Her work examines the intersections of cultural production, power structures, and environmental concerns across geographical boundaries.
Her publications demonstrate persistent interests in postcolonial literature, digital humanities, feminist criticism, and experimental poetics. Analysis shows recurring engagement with themes of cultural identity, historical trauma, environmental crisis, and formal innovation in contemporary literature.
