Dr. Marlise Poolman is Clinical Senior Lecturer in Palliative Medicine at Bangor University and co-Clinical Director of Palliative Care for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Her research develops interventions for home-based end-of-life care, particularly the CARiAD model for carer-administered breakthrough medication. As academic lead for Wales' Care Decisions for the Last Days of Life project, she influences national palliative care policy.
She earned her MB CHB from Stellenbosch University and completed palliative medicine training in the UK. Funded projects include NIHR studies on cordotomy for cancer pain and carer-administered medication. Awards recognize her innovations in community palliative care implementation.
