Marleen Gosens

Marleen Gosens is a Lecturer-Researcher at Avans University of Applied Sciences, affiliated with the Analysis Techniques in the Life Sciences research group. She teaches in the Biology and Medical Laboratory Research program and has over 14 years of experience at Avans, preceded by a 2-year tenure at Fontys University of Applied Sciences.

Her research focuses on advanced forensic techniques including environmental DNA (eDNA), touch-DNA analysis, PCR methodologies, and trace evidence investigation. She leverages these skills to combat illegal drug waste dumping through her project:

• A Finger Behind Illegal Drug Waste Dumping: Applying analytical techniques to identify forensic evidence at drug waste sites.

She holds a Biology degree from Radboud University Nijmegen and completed doctoral research on colorectal tumor pathology.
