Marla Stone is a Professor of History at Occidental College and served as Department Chair from 2000–2004 and 2015–2019. She held the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of the Humanities position at the American Academy in Rome from 2021 to 2023.
Research Interests: Her scholarship focuses on the intersection of culture, politics, and the state in 20th-century Europe, with expertise in Italian Fascist politics and culture, genocide studies, the contemporary far right, Holocaust memory, anti-communism, and interwar cultural diplomacy.
