Dr. Markia Bowe is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida, housed within the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering. Her research focuses on biomechanics of bone, 3D imaging, and inclusive engineering education. She completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida (2023) and holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a Biological Engineering concentration from Kettering University (2017).
Dr. Bowe’s research explores subchondral bone remodeling in osteoarthritis, linking gait changes and pain mechanisms in preclinical models. Her work emphasizes rodent studies comparing ACL and meniscus injuries, with implications for osteoarthritis treatment evaluation. She has published extensively on bone remodeling mechanisms and gait analysis in rodent models of knee osteoarthritis.
