Mark Stoller

Dr. Mark Stoller is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen’s University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. His research focuses on historical and political geographies of northern Canada, particularly in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut, with an emphasis on collaboration with Inuit youth to document local histories. He holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies (Geography/Political Science) from the University of British Columbia, an MA in History from McMaster University, and a BAH in History from the University of Toronto.

Recent projects include the Nanivara Oral History Project and the Umiyaqtutt Festival Youth Film Project in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut.

Consulting & Grants: He has managed projects for clients such as Parks Canada, the Department of Defence, and the Nattilik Heritage Centre. His expertise includes grant writing, budget management, and translating complex research into accessible formats.

Labs/Teams: Collaborates with local communities in Nunavut and institutions like the Royal Ontario Museum. Maintains digital platforms like the Nanivara Oral History Project to share research findings.
