Mark Skwarek is an Industry Associate Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering’s Technology, Culture and Society department. He is also the CEO of Semblance Augmented Reality and director of NYU’s Mobile Augmented Reality Lab. His work bridges virtual and physical worlds through AR, focusing on art activism and emerging technologies.

Research Interests: Emerging Media & AR. He explores translating digital experiences into physical spaces, with notable projects like erasing geopolitical borders in AR (e.g., DMZ, Gaza Strip) and organizing movements such as arOCCUPYWALLSTREET. His work has been featured in venues like the Institute of Contemporary Art (Boston), Siggraph, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
