Mark Sachleben

Dr. Mark Sachleben is Professor of Political Science at Shippensburg University, specializing in international relations and political film analysis. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Miami University (2003), an M.A. from Marshall University (1993), and a B.A. from Berea College (1990). His research examines media representations of global politics, sustainable tourism governance, and pedagogical approaches to internationalizing curricula.

Dr. Sachleben's scholarship connects political theory with cultural narratives, analyzing how film shapes public understanding of international affairs. His publications reflect sustained interest in security frameworks, environmental policy, and experiential learning methodologies.

He developed the 'European Politics on the Fly' pedagogical model and has led student trips to Brussels. As co-founder of the Institute for Diplomatic Dialogue in the Americas, he designs simulations for hemispheric policy challenges.
