Mark S. Harding is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph and serves as Program Chair for Justice and Legal Studies. He holds a PhD and MA in Political Science from the University of Calgary. His research focuses on judicial politics, Canadian constitutionalism, bills of rights in Commonwealth nations, and political institutions. Harding's 2022 book compares judicial power dynamics in Commonwealth states, while recent articles explore cooperative federalism and post-Charter scholarship.
His academic career includes teaching in the MPP program at the University of Calgary’s School of Public Policy. Current research projects examine how the Supreme Court of Canada defines institutional roles through jurisprudence and situates Canada within broader political/legal constitutionalism debates. Active in publishing since 2013, his work bridges comparative constitutional studies and Canadian legal frameworks.
