Mark Russell is a Lecturer at the University of Exeter Medical School within the University of Exeter. He is affiliated with the NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre and is one of seven Principal Investigators forming the Islet Biology Exeter (IBEx) team.
- BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from the University of Plymouth (2000-2003)
- MRes in Marine Biology from the University of Plymouth (2003-2004)
- PhD in Medical Studies from the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry (2006-2011)
His research focuses on immunology, clinical sciences, biochemistry and cell biology, medical physiology, endocrinology, and autoimmunity. These areas are explored through collaboration with the IBEx team and the NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre.
He has received recognition as an HEA Fellow, highlighting his commitment to academic excellence in education and research.
