Dr. Mark Rouncefield is a Senior Professor at the University of Siegen’s Faculty III Business Informatics and New Media. Previously, he held roles such as Reader in Social Informatics at Lancaster University and served as a Microsoft European Research Fellow. His academic journey includes degrees from Exeter, Durham, and Lancaster Universities, with a focus on sociology and education.
Rouncefield’s research centers on CSCW/HCI, emphasizing empirical studies of work practices, organizational dynamics, and technology design. He collaborates extensively with sociologists, computer scientists, and health professionals, notably with Professors Dave Randall and Peter Tolmie. His work highlights ethnography as a critical method for design and evaluation, particularly in contexts like Morocco, Madagascar, and conflict zones.
