Mark Rey

Mark Rey serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife and Executive in Residence at the Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability within Michigan State University's College of Agriculture & Natural Resources.

His academic credentials include:

• M.S. in Natural Resources Policy and Administration from the University of Michigan
• B.S.F. in Forestry from the University of Michigan
• B.S. in Wildlife Management from the University of Michigan

Rey specializes in natural resources policy and environmental advocacy, teaching ANR 491 which examines advocacy tools, campaign tactics, and ethical dilemmas in resource management. His expertise derives from leadership roles as USDA Under-Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment (overseeing Forest Service operations) and Senate Committee staff lead for national forest policy, providing practical insights into federal resource governance and stakeholder engagement.

He administers the Demmer Scholars program placing students in Washington, D.C. internships with federal agencies and NGOs, bridging academic theory with real-world policy implementation in natural resources arenas.
