Mark Primus

Mark Primus is an Associate Professor in the Social Work Department at Nazareth College. He holds a B.A. in Sociology from Roberts Wesleyan College, an M.S.W. and Ph.D. from Syracuse University. His research focuses on fathering, child outcomes within cultural contexts, and parenting practices in Caribbean and African-American families. He teaches courses such as Human Behavior, Human Rights, and International Social Work, leading service-learning trips to Jamaica and India. Primus has over 30 years of professional experience in social work, including roles at Hillside Family of Agencies, Strong Memorial Hospital, and the Rochester Police Department. He emphasizes self-awareness in social work practice and advises students on global perspectives through community engagement.
