Mark Pagell is a Full Professor of Global Leadership and Sustainable Supply Chain Management at the School of Business, University College Dublin. He holds a PhD in Operations and Sourcing Management from Michigan State University (1997). His research focuses on sustainable supply chains, occupational safety, social sustainability, and ethical practices in supply networks. He served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Supply Chain Management (2016–2022) and received the Distinguished Scholar Award from the OSCM Division of the Academy of Management (2020). Pagell has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles in top journals like Management Science and Journal of Operations Management, earning multiple awards for his work.
His research explores paradoxes in supply chains, such as balancing social and commercial objectives, and addressing precarious work conditions. He has pioneered studies on temporary workers' impact on innovation, IT-enabled supply chain integration, and the role of social enterprises in fostering DEI.
