Mark Noon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sport and Exercise Science at Coventry University, within the CEES School of Science. He holds roles as a Chartered Scientist, accredited BASES Sport and Exercise Scientist, and UEFA A licensed coach. His research focuses on athletic performance, training load monitoring, and long-term athlete development in youth and professional soccer contexts.
Education: Completed a PhD in 2017 at Coventry University titled 'The Utility of Well-being and Performance Assessments in Managing the Development of Elite Youth Football Players'. Prior to academia, he spent 10 years in industry roles, including Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine at Coventry City Football Club and support roles with the Wales U21 National Team.

- Player development and talent identification in youth soccer
- Monitoring athlete well-being and performance metrics
- Application of sport science in professional and semi-professional football
- Impact of structured exercise programs for healthy aging
Awards: Received the Outstanding Research Supervision Team award (2021) from Coventry University Doctoral College.
Grants/Funding: Collaborated with Badminton World Federation (BWF) on the Shuttle Time for Seniors project evaluating aging populations' engagement with sport.
Labs/Teams: Previously led sport science teams at Coventry City Football Club and contributed to Wales U21 national team's scientific support. Currently supervises research in academy systems and youth development methodologies.
