Prof. Mark Michaeli is a Full Professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Chair for Sustainable Development of Urban and Rural Areas within the TUM School of Engineering and Design and Department of Architecture. Since 2021, he has served as Vice Dean for Studies and Teaching at TUM. His academic journey includes roles at ETH Zurich (2001–2010), the University of St. Gallen (2009–2016), and the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) Future Cities Laboratory (2009–2011).
His research focuses on urban and rural transformation processes, sustainable planning, shrinkage dynamics, and the integration of digital methods for spatial analysis.
