About
Dr. Mark Mallory is a Professor and Canada Research Chair Tier 1 at Acadia University. His research focuses on coastal wetland ecosystems, bridging marine and terrestrial environments through studies of wildlife movement, pollutant analysis, and ecological monitoring. He employs telemetry, sediment archives, and contaminant tracking to assess ecosystem health across Canada’s Arctic to southern coasts.
Research Interests: Coastal habitat connectivity, ecotoxicology, bycatch mitigation, and Arctic biodiversity conservation. His work addresses human impacts on ecosystems, mercury contamination, microplastics, and wildlife health metrics.
Publication Trends: Mallory’s recent studies emphasize
- global tracking of marine megafauna for conservation
- epigenetic responses to pollution
- microplastic ingestion in Arctic species
- mercury biomagnification
- bycatch data variability
- landfill-associated contaminants in gulls
Scientific Awards:
- Canada Research Chair Tier 1 (2017)
- Renewed Canada Research Chair Tier 1 (2016)
Grants & Affiliations: Funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, Mallory collaborates with institutions across the North Atlantic and Arctic. His research informs policy on coastal sustainability and human activity guidelines.
