Mark K. Dolan

Dr. Mark K. Dolan is an Associate Professor in the School of Journalism and New Media at the University of Mississippi. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication (2003) and an M.A. in English (1985), both from the University of South Carolina. His research focuses on the black press, cultural history, and the intersection of race and media. He has authored articles in journals like Southern Cultures, Illinois Journal of History, and The Howard Journal of Communications, exploring racial identity narratives in historical and contemporary contexts. Dolan is also a practicing journalist and photographer, having published a book documenting Southern cultural narratives through longform writing and documentary photography. His teaching interests include new media, narrative journalism, and visual storytelling.
