Mark Jones is an Experience Design Principal at Humana and teaches User Research and Service Design at the Institute of Design (ID) within Illinois Institute of Technology. He holds a BFA from Amherst College and an MDes from ID. His work focuses on AI ethics, healthcare innovation, and human-centered design methodologies.
Research interests include leveraging design to address societal challenges in the AI era, strategic service design in healthcare, and integrating quantitative/qualitative methods. His 2024 report on AI responsibility is a key contribution. He founded SD Lab (2017), a consultancy focused on innovation methods.
Previously, he served as Vice President of Design at UnitedHealthcare (2014–17) and Managing Director at IDEO (2000–14), leading projects like healthcare access initiatives and retail banking reinvention. His career spans design leadership, technology futurism, and creative industries.
