Mark Johnson is a Professor and Head of Graduate School at Goldsmiths, University of London, within the Department of Anthropology. His research focuses on gender/sexuality, migration, transnationalism, and material culture. He leads major funded projects such as the GlobalGRACE initiative exploring cultures of equality and the AHRC Curating Development project examining migrant contributions to development. He has held visiting roles at Stockholm University and the Universities of Göttingen-Kassel. Johnson supervises 7 PhD students and has guided 13 successful completions. He chairs the GRACE expert committee and serves on editorial boards for American Ethnologist and the Sociological Review. His work spans field studies in the Philippines, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and Costa Rica, with a focus on migrant agency, surveillance, and cultural transformation.
