Mark J Berger

Mark J. Berger is an Associate Professor of the Practice of Music at Brandeis University and a member of the Lydian String Quartet since 2014. He teaches in the Department of Music and actively performs with Boston’s leading orchestras and chamber ensembles. His expertise spans viola performance, chamber music, orchestral music, and music theory.

• Education: PhD from Brandeis University; MM and BM from Boston University

Research interests include new music performance, chamber music interpretation, and pedagogy. Berger is dedicated to promoting contemporary compositions through collaborations with ensembles like Sound Icon and Dinosaur Annex. His grants support innovative musical projects.

He holds affiliations with the Lydian String Quartet and Worcester Chamber Music Society, blending academic and performing roles.
