Mark Horan

Mark Horan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Huddersfield's School of Business, Education and Law. He serves as Course Leader and is a member of the Centre for Sustainability, Responsibility, Governance and Ethics, as well as the Huddersfield Centre for Research in Education and Society (HudCRES). With a career spanning accounting, HR leadership in public and private sectors, and academia, he holds Board-level experience in NHS/Department of Health and Blackpool Council. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), his research focuses on evaluating CIPD Level 7 courses' holistic impacts.

Professional roles include External Examiner positions at the University of Liverpool (2016–2020) and Birmingham City University (2015–2019). His expertise intersects HR strategy, organizational change, and professional development education.

Research interests emphasize evaluation methodologies, return on expectation, and autoethnography's role in doctoral studies. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through advancing educational practices in business and management disciplines.

His recent scholarly focus explores qualitative impacts of advanced HR qualifications through studies like his 2019 article analyzing autoethnography in business doctoral journeys.
