Mark Fleishman

Professor Mark Fleishman is a T.B.L. Webster Fellow at the Institute of Classical Studies (affiliated with the University of London) and holds a home institution position at the University of Cape Town. His research focuses on reimagining tragedy from African and Global South perspectives, addressing postcolonial challenges and futures through theatre and performance.

Research Interests: Fleishman leads the Reimagining Tragedy from Africa and the Global South (ReTAGS) project, examining tragedy through three prisms: archival postcolonial tragedies, transgressive protest behaviors, and artistic reimaginings.
