Dr. Mark Dixon is a dedicated academic at Leeds Beckett University, serving as Course Director and teaching across both undergraduate and postgraduate computing programs. He is affiliated with the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing, where he contributes to curriculum delivery and research leadership.
His educational background includes a BSc in Computing (1994) and a PhD in Computer Science (1997). With nearly three decades of industry experience, he brings practical expertise in software development across platforms such as 6502, 68000, ARM, and dsPIC, using languages including Assembly, C, C++, Java, and Objective C.
Dr. Dixon’s research is centered on software engineering, model-based development, and embedded systems. He has secured funding for two Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) with organizations in Newcastle and Leeds, and collaborates with the NHS Trust on a mobile application to support patient therapy. This work enhances clinical support and enables patients to monitor their progress regularly. He also developed a CASE tool widely adopted in computing education across global institutions.
The recent research projects highlight his engagement in cybersecurity, particularly through the Cybercrime and Security Innovation Centre, and an evidence-based approach to digital forensics and cybercrime investigations.
