Dr. Mark Cooper is an Assistant Professor in Community and Regional Development at UC Davis. A geographer and interdisciplinary social scientist, he studies climate-agriculture interactions using political ecology, STS, and policy analysis. Current projects examine decarbonization economics, agricultural GHG mitigation, and racial equity in land ownership.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Geography (UW-Madison), M.S. in Sociology (UW-Madison), and B.A. from University of Kansas. Affiliated with Geography, Community Development, Animal Biology, and Science & Technology Studies graduate programs.
Publications analyze emissions trading, livestock GHG policies, and rural land justice. Research supported by USDA, RWJF, and UC grants.
