Mark Chapman is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Science and Coaching at the University of Greenwich's School of Human Sciences. As programme leader for Sport Science with Coaching degrees, he specializes in strength and conditioning, athletic training, and biomechanics.
With 25 years of athletics coaching experience, Chapman has trained athletes competing at world championships and served as Great Britain team coach. His research examines strength development across populations, from elite athletes to elderly fall prevention.
Current research investigates resistance training stimuli using velocity feedback and perceived exertion metrics. Chapman's MSc research analyzed EMG responses during isometric fatigue protocols, informing his evidence-based coaching methodologies.
Educational initiatives include developing the FdSc and BSc Sport Science with Coaching programmes and establishing pathways for coaching qualifications.
