Mark C. Bicket

Mark C. Bicket, MD, PhD, FASA is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School with a joint appointment in the School of Public Health. His research focuses on pain management, opioid policy, and health services research, particularly in acute healthcare settings like surgery and emergency medicine.

Dr. Bicket leads the CARES trial (Comparing Analgesic Regimen Effectiveness and Safety) and co-directs the Overdose Prevention Engagement Network (OPEN). His work has informed federal and state-level healthcare policies and has been published in top journals like JAMA, BMJ, and Annals of Surgery.

Recent publications highlight trends in opioid prescribing, AI in pain management, and health disparities in surgical care. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and has secured grants from NIH, PCORI, and SAMHSA.
