Mark Boldin, M.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Systems Biology at City of Hope. His research focuses on the control of inflammation and cancer through non-coding RNA mechanisms, particularly in hematopoietic disorders like leukemia and autoimmune diseases. The Boldin Laboratory investigates how microRNAs (miRNAs) such as miR-146a, miR-132, and miR-155 regulate immune system development and function.
Research highlights include miR-146a's role as a molecular brake on inflammation and cancer via silencing TRAF6 and IRAK1 signaling proteins. Current work explores both small and long noncoding RNAs in immune cell signaling dysregulation, aiming to develop novel therapeutics for autoimmunity and cancer.
