Mark Alder

Mark Alder is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the BSc(Hons) Nursing (Adult) degree at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), School of Health and Social Wellbeing. Based at the Glenside Campus, he plays a key role in shaping the curriculum and educational experience for adult nursing students.

Mark's professional focus centers on adult nursing education, with expertise in preparing students for diverse healthcare settings. His work emphasizes practical clinical skills development, patient-centered care, and the integration of theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. The program he leads incorporates substantial placement opportunities across NHS, private, and voluntary sector organizations, ensuring students gain comprehensive exposure to various healthcare environments including neurology, epilepsy care, acute physical and mental healthcare, and services for people with learning disabilities.

As Programme Leader, Mark oversees a curriculum that includes essential nursing competencies, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and specialized care episodes. The program is designed to meet Nursing and Midwifery Council standards, preparing graduates for registration and diverse career paths in adult nursing across hospital, community, and specialized settings.
