Marjut Alho

Marjut Alho is a University Lecturer at the Department of Languages, Faculty of Arts, University of Helsinki. Her research focuses on translation studies, contrastive linguistics, and terminology analysis, particularly exploring Finnish and German language structures. She has conducted studies on punctuation systems, economic terminology related to the Euro currency, and media globalization.

Alho's academic career includes publications on computer-assisted translation practices (2005), quantitative analysis of terminological synonymy (2004), and recent work on colon usage in Finnish and German (2023/2024). She is affiliated with the Translation Studies research group and leads the 2024 research project 'Aikakausmedian kansainvälistäminen.'
