Marize Verhagen

Marize Verhagen is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance at Utrecht University, specializing in International and European Law. She also serves as a PhD Candidate in the same department.

Education:

• Doctorate in Law (April 16, 2025) from Utrecht University

Research Interests: Her work focuses on employment law, corporate law, and collective action, particularly examining semi-mandatory law in collective labor agreements. Her 2025 dissertation explores trade union negotiation dynamics through case studies.

Teaching: She taught courses on Employment Law, Private Law in Perspective (Employment Law), Public International Law, and Introduction to European Law at Utrecht University. She annually participated in the Max Rood national employment law moot court competition.
