Marius Veseth

Marius Veseth is a Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at the University of Bergen. He is also employed as a Researcher at Førde Health Trust. His academic career spans clinical and community psychology with a focus on understanding mental health and illness, supporting people within and outside healthcare systems, and building inclusive communities.

Dr. Veseth completed his training as a psychologist from the University of Bergen in 2007 and earned his PhD on recovery in bipolar disorder in 2013. His research spans the entire lifespan, from children and adolescents to adults and the elderly, with a primary focus on individuals with severe mental disorders and substance use problems.

His research interests include:

• Understanding mental health and illness
• Supporting individuals within and outside healthcare systems
• Building inclusive communities
• Recovery processes for people with mental health challenges
• Mixed research methods, including qualitative, participatory, and action research approaches

His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on qualitative exploration of mental health recovery, therapist experiences, and interventions for vulnerable populations. His work frequently examines the social context of mental health and the role of meaningful activities in recovery processes.

Dr. Veseth teaches and supervises at all levels within clinical and community psychology, coordinating the course PRPSYK301A - Professional Preparation 1: Mental Health, Treatment, and Ethics, and teaching PRPSYKMET1 - Qualitative Methods as the Basis for Psychological Science and PRPSYK313 - Psychological Treatment of Complex Mental Disorders.
