Marius Korsnes is an Associate Professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), within the Faculty of Humanities. He leads the ERC-funded 'MidWay' project on sufficiency in China's meat and milk production and co-leads the Gemini Centre for Post Growth Futures. His research focuses on energy transitions, sustainability, innovation, and China's role in global energy systems. He holds a PhD from the University of Oslo (2015) and an M.Phil. in Culture, Environment, and Sustainability (2012).
Key projects include the MEATigation (Norwegian meat consumption study), SoMaT (sociomaterial transformations in Norway and East Asia), and leadership in NTNU's FME NTRANS Centre. He has authored the book Wind and Solar Energy Transition in China (2019) and contributed to studies on prosumer behavior, renewable energy policy, and interdisciplinary sustainability research. Awards include membership in the Young Academy of Norway and NTNU's Academic Fellows programme.
He serves as Safety Responsible at his department and Gender Equality Ombudsperson at NTNU's Humanities Faculty. His work bridges social science and engineering, emphasizing transdisciplinary approaches to global sustainability challenges.
