About
Marius Backmann is a postdoctoral lecturer at the University of Bayreuth, working on philosophy of time, induction, metaphysics of science, and free will. His research explores ontologically motivated solutions to philosophical puzzles within a Humean framework.
Current investigations examine how temporal ontology intersects with Humean metaphysics, and whether determinism precludes an ontologically open future. Additional work addresses inclusive approaches to global philosophy history.
Teaching covers core philosophical areas with emphasis on metaphysical problems and their historical contexts. Research contributes to debates on agency, causality, and knowledge justification.
