Marita O’Brien

Dr. Marita O’Brien is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Her work focuses on engineering psychology, human factors, and cognitive aging. She holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Psychology from Georgia Tech (2010), an M.S. in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Colorado (1994), and an A.B. in Math/Economics from Duke University (1988).

Her research explores everyday decision-making, human error, technology design, disaster preparedness, and resilience. Prior to academia, she spent 10+ years at Deloitte Consulting and Morgan Stanley advising Fortune 500 clients on customer interface design.

Recent publications address intuitive technology use across age groups, post-disaster household resilience, and universal design strategies for aging populations.
