Dr. Marisel Moreno is Professor of Spanish and Latina/o Literature at the University of Notre Dame, where she researches race, gender, and migration in Caribbean and Latinx cultural production. Her award-winning book 'Crossing Waters' examines undocumented migration through literary and artistic representations. She co-curates digital humanities projects like 'Listening to Puerto Rico' and has held fellowships at Kellogg Institute and Radcliffe Institute.
Her scholarship focuses on AfroLatinx narratives, Central American diasporas, and decolonial approaches to cultural studies. Recent work analyzes representations of border crossings and memory in contemporary art and literature.
Honors include the Gordon K. and Sybil Lewis Book Award (2023), Sheedy Teaching Excellence Award (2016), and NEH Fellowship (2025).
