Marisa Ferger serves as an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science within the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Pennsylvania State University. She has been an active faculty member since joining the Weather and Climate Communications Group in July 2002.
Her educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma. Prior to her Penn State appointment, she built extensive industry experience as an on-air meteorologist and reporter at WPBN in Traverse City, MI and KOKH in Oklahoma City, OK, followed by television and radio work in State College, PA.
Professor Ferger specializes in weather communications and broadcast meteorology, with research interests centered on public weather education and effective dissemination of meteorological information. As a core contributor to "Weather World," she delivers weather broadcasts on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) at 5:45 p.m. and WPSU-TV at 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., transforming complex atmospheric science into accessible public content.
She maintains active involvement in Meteorology students' academic development and organizational activities, providing mentorship beyond the classroom. Her affiliation with the Weather and Climate Communications Group positions her at the forefront of meteorological outreach initiatives, connecting departmental expertise with community education needs.
